Atomos Announces Ronin And Ronin Duo At IBC 2012
Melbourne, Australia – September 7, 2012
Atomos, creator of award-winning field recorders Ninja-2 and Samurai, as well as the small, but perfectly formed, Connect converters, announce the Ronin portable Recorder/Player/Monitor at IBC 2012. Ronin is a smart solution for both fixed-facility and on-location production.
“Atomos has a reputation for developing affordable low power, high functionality, portable devices. We are now leveraging our expertise to move into more production environments, including studio, broadcast and professional AV,” said Jeromy Young, CEO and Founder of Atomos. “Our simple to use, touchscreen AtomOS operating system provides the ease of operation that is important to these markets.”
Based on the award-winning Samurai field recorder, the Ronin features touchscreen ease of use, capture to Apple ProRes® and Avid DNXHD, professional monitoring and edit review. Like the Samurai, it can operate on location with battery or DC power, but it can also be used in a fixed facility, rack-mounted environment using AC power.
In addition, the Ronin has balanced XLR inputs and outputs, along with a front panel headphone jack with channel monitoring selection. It also has an internal battery charging system for attached Atomos batteries when connected to AC power.
